Steven Cooper is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. He is on the faculties of the New York University Postdoctoral Program and the Austen Riggs Center. He served as Joint Editor-in-Chief of Psychoanalytic Dialogues from 2007-2012 and is now Joint Chief Editor Emeritus.
Steven is the author of four books in psychoanalysis. The first book, "Objects of Hope: Exploring Possibility and Limit in Psychoanalysis" was published by The Analytic Press in 2000. His second book, "A Disturbance in the Field: Essays in Transference-Countertransference" was published by Routledge Press in 2010. His third book, "The Melancholic Errand of Psychoanalysis: Exploring the Analyst's Relationship to the Depressive Position" was published in 2016 by Routledge Press and is now translated into Italian by Routledge. His new book, "Playing and Becoming in Psychoanalysis" will be published by Routledge in early 2022.
